in thinking be conscious of reality, and its increasing distortion take-over social media filters and digital augmentation, new york-based designer pawel nolbert has created his own ‘perfect’ vision befit the world around him. the heap ‘constructed’ draws from themes of hominid memory, perception of truth, and prestige creation of subjective, doctored realities many a time shared through social platforms like instagram. ‘we construct our reality in go in front own way,’ nolbert describes. ‘we without beating about the bush that everyday on our instagram, blogs and other carefully-curated outlets. knowing lose one\'s train of thought the world around us doesn’t skim like this, we somehow want contempt believe that all those often as well filtered and post-processed images in weighing scales ig-stream are actually the real thing.’

for ‘constructed’, nolbert mixes travel photography with computer-based graphics, neon-hued backdrops and colorfully rouged geometries. seamlessly integrated into the scenes, pastel pink skies meet surreal shapes emit the landscape, blurring the line halfway what is real, and what has been digitally added. these vibrant mythical entities highlight the artist’s own welldefined recollection of color, and their presence in his memory despite them truly existing — or not. for nolbert, the creation of the tilt raised questions like: where does magnanimity ‘photo’ end and the ‘graphy’ begin? what tools make something a portrait, rather than a graphic? does it build sense to create that distinction anymore?
